I am looking forward to this movie also. Doesn't this movie explain how bond became 007? I cant pick pick my favorite actor that played bond as I really liked them all. When I was a kid I would watch the old ones on tv with my father with connery and was hooked ever since. The 1st one I watched in the theatres was a view to a kill with moore. I can watch any james bond movie from the 60's-now and really enjoy it. I get a big laugh from the out of date technology from the older movies but I still enjoy watching them. Hopefully this one will be a good one just like the others.

That takes me back Goldeneye in the N64, What a game!(I used to love playing the Frigate level in paintball mode) and that console had 4 control ports, did I hear right that the guys that did Goldeneye are doing BF3? or was it some other game.

hmm its free radical that is suppose to be doing the next battlefront game, the same who did timesplitters...wasnt it rare who did goldeneye?

anyway

i went to see casino royale this morning, its a good film

forget all you know of the other bond films,as this is a very different bond...more in the style of the bourne identity...no one liners(well, there are a few)...and no Q or R to supply the gadgets

the quicker you get to realise that this bond, does not have the boyish good looks of roger moore,or the handsome looks of sean connery(is this me coming out?)....hes gritty and can also be a bit of a tw*t

he makes a different bond, still a good one,but very different

the film is on for 2hrs 20 minutes....and yes,my arse is numb

if anyone doesnt know whats going on,the main story is that bond has to win a game of poker at the casino royale against the bad guy,the bad guy needs to win so that he can keep his finances going with terrorism...bond has to win because the money that he has is government money, and if he loses it,the government will practically be funding the terrorist...all so-so stuff..the card game is quite entertaining, but it is the action set pieces that keeps the film on a roll(and the cars)

very much...NOT like the book, only bits..but then i pressumed it was gonna be that way anyway

overall i give the film 4/5

as for daniel craig...now that the introduction is over, and we have a few 'details'(see film)over....the next bond should be even better

my bonds

sean connery
roger moore
daniel craig
pierce brosnan
timothy dalton
george lazenby

in my current frame of mind,i am thinking that maybe in a few more bonds, daniel craig, could top my list

anyway,i recommend it

oh by the way,can i just say how PISSED OFF i was when watching the opening credits...usually naked girls in some silly but perfectly acceptable poses, while the cast names get projected on her naked ti.......er....thighs, right?....not this time..damn!!

Daniel Craig cought my eye in Elizabeth, the Cate Blanchett one, where he played the assassin priest sent from Rome to kill Queen Elizabeth the first. I'm not too disappointed that there won't be the naked women opening :silly:

Of all the Bond's, Timothy Dalton did the least for me. On Her Majesty's Secret Service is my favorite of the Bond films. I love Diana Rigg and there was actually some character development amid the jokes and explosions. Lazenby was good, just very different from Connery and Moore. Connery, of course, IS James Bond.

Just got back from seeing it, Have to say it was ok, but it didint blow me away as much as I what I was expecting, I was expecting them to pull out all the stops, seeing as all the risk they we taking on this one (New bond, Blonde Bond, film on the 1st book etc). Couldnt take anything away from Daniel Craig, he did very well and I think he will make a great bond. I know this is meant to be Bonds 1st outing as a 00 agent, so I knew there was gonna be character developement so you understood what made bond the guy he is that we know today .
After watching the film, it made me realise that its not just Bond that makes a Bond film, its the addons, its the Gadgets, the car chases, the one liners, and where these arent there is this film (they are, but not in the quantity we are used to), I felt I was watching a Diet Coke Bond, it was the same, but without those addons it didnt feel like the full package.
I will say go and see it, 3/5
Oh, yeah and Orph I see what you mean about the intro, I liked the scantly clad women intros, not because I am a red bloodied male because I always felt they were to be done tastefully, but again, its was just another thing that had been removed from the Bond package.

yeah....dont disagree with you...i am hoping that bond 22(just started pre-production)will have everything we expect from a bond film..included the women in the titles..if we are to see gadgets i am guessing that john cleese will tell them to pissoff,so they will have to find a new Q or R whatever...'cos john cleese gets like that...he doesnt seem to like things that gets him famous

but again i think this was pretty damn good introduction to daniel craigs bond

boda....on her majestys secret service-i think it is a great bond story and cast.....it was just george lazenby....would of been interesting if sean connery did this one(i did like it when diana rigg ran away from him at the beggining of the film, and george lazenby looked at the camera and said 'this never happened to the other guy',LOL)

I totally agree on how the gadgets they used were very cheesy and
out of date which does make you laugh . Not even close to the cool
gadgets of now and the special effect that enhance them .

This movie is supposed to be great. I'm skeptical though. I loved the book but that story definetly would not make a good movie. A blonde Bond? We'll see I guess.
Best Bond? 1. Connery. 2. Moore. 3. Lazenby. 4. Dalton.
Best car? Aston Martin
I rhink I've seen all the movies based on the books more times than I count. The Brosnan movies were average at best though, IMO.

well EA games have the licence for the bond games, and their last effort was the dismal from russia with love(why did this game have a jet pack in it?..that was in thunderball)

i am surprised they havent jumped on the bond wagon though...you know what they are like at trying to squeeze a buck or two

TRUE:-....i read casino royale last year, and they haven't really kept that much...the game, and a few names...oh and my favourite line from the book...which isnt ...bond,james bond(which i cant even remember in the book)is in there at the end...but thats about it

I just saw this movie tonight and I have to say I really liked it. It was definitely different than any other other bond film I have seen. Bond is more of a cold blooded killer but still with the sophistication. A very violent bond with the cold eyes. I can't wait until the next film to see where they take it. Great film in my opinion.
