Major Nelson

I have bolded the ones that looks like will be for UK,AUS,U.S and CAN....don't think we have people from any other countries on here, except Pogue who is from another planet

some of them listed,we already have eg.-Last.FM(UK/US)...but its good to see Lovefilm(UK equivalent of Netflix) coming to the UK XBL,some channels i haven't heard of that are coming to UK,like what the fuck is 'Crackle'?

but either way,it looks like MS have really pulled out all the stops this time round and not just made cool stuff for US :pfft: ...although saying that i am pissed right off that Manga Entertainment is U.S only

notice how not everything requires Xbox Live Gold, you can pretty much thank the BBC for that because that is why its not been on XBL before because it would be illegal to charge for XBLG to get it,as we already pay a TV license for the BBC

worthy mentions i think are SyFy(US)
Mobeye will be over the moon that he can watch Big Brother on Channel 5 on his 360 now,LOL
Bravo(US),Bravo is no longer running in the UK
ABC iView for Australia

looks like the UK will just be missing ITV now for Terrestrial channels

I am quite happy with all these, not sure if i will make use of the services though,it all depends if they have subtitles,SKY TV on 360 is fucking brill, lots of movies(i counted some 300 to watch last time i was on) and sports and shit to watch, but again no subtitles,so i have not used the service as much as i would like to

So are these channels on demand or are they the same channels I get on my Direct TV?
Why am I in the Forums instead of gaming on LIVE?

I'm surprised it doesn't mention Charter (US cable co.) I think the MS head honcho owns majority stock of the company. That's the cable I use so hoepfully you don't have to be signed onto one of the other cable co's to get these extra choices. I get espn and everything else so far.

I think I'm missing something here... today I can turn on my TV and watch the SyFy channel. But soon I'll be able to turn on my TV, stereo, and 360 to watch the same channel?

Because firing up a 300-400 watt 360 vs. just a 30 watt TV is.... ??

My Xbox has it's own blog, does yours?

That's what I'm thinking. I just don't get it? Maybe they think that people only have internet and no other form of media.

that's exactly it

Microsoft have talked about getting rid of the need for a cable/satellite set top box under your TV,and the 360 becoming the replacement

here in the UK,with the SKY package, you could easily go without the Cable/Satellite box here, there are 100s of movies to watch for free that start straight away(and the movie channels also stream live),all major sports and entertainment and news channels all stream live, its pretty impressive(although it still doesn't have as much as the cable/satellite boxes, but most other channels it doesn't have are shit anyway)

if they had subtitles on everything(they have no subtitles whatsoever) i would certainly think about getting rid and using the 360 for my TV

However, here in the UK there is a little catch, most internet providers do the best deals here when bundled with the same companies Phone line and Internet service,Sky and Virgin and BT...but i think you could still save money overall, although you would afterall still have to subscribe to the TV service(although people here just put in the details of a friend or relatives account and it works)

and of course there is no Sky+/TIVO service

right now for me the SKY service on the 360 is also a second satellite box, just a shame its less than 3 feet away from my actual Satellite box :pfft:

for those of you who are in the next step is happening now

first go to this page and sign in
http://connect.micro.../xboxliveupdate

Click on
'Starting 11/1 - Console Registrations'

and then follow the instructions(click on each step)to register your console

you wont need all those ID numbers on the back of your console this time, this time it does it by generating a 25 digit code for you,and then you entering that code into the redeem code area on the 360 like normal codes

this will download the registration app(i found it in 'recent games' in your game library when it downloaded -1mb),and you just sign on from there

it says it will take 2-3 days to take effect

the 360 dash has updated,it took about 2 minutes for it to download and install

apparently i can't tell you too much because its against their regulations(pfft)

it looks nice, but i am concerned with what is on show,on each tab you can see about 3-4 things, but there could be more(because last time we had a whole row of videos on one line eg inside xbox) so its a bit shit

friends list is a little awkward as well to navigate, and for some reason some people who are offline have sheep flying over their head, while other people who are also offline don't have sheep flying over their head..not sure why some have and some don't

oh and as for Themes, yeah the background is still there overall, but it doesn't look like the individual backgrounds for your friends made it over...so all those themes i bought were pretty much a waste of money

i unwittingly went into the videos and it automatically started up the download for Zune player, which i hate,i deleted it last time, and ther is an update for 38mb,and it is taking ages for some reason

I think people are going to take a long time getting used to this new dashboard if you ask me

TODAY WE LAUNCHED THE FALL UPDATE!!!

What Now?

We’re not done yet delivering the entertainment package for Holiday 2011. The Preview program continues through the end of this year and we still have applications yet to release this year that we need your continued support for testing. Not all of the applications available to you today (or in the near future) have released as we are still working very hard to deliver those and still need your continued assistance on testing the applications and providing your feedback.

Apps not yet released to the General Public, but available for testing in Public Preview today:

· DailyMotion (US, CA, UK, FR, DE, IT, ES, MX, AU)

· DisneyXD (CA)

· SyFy (US)

· More coming soon…

Confidentiality Reminder: As part of the program it is also still important that you help us by keeping the details of the new applications that have not yet released within the guidelines of the Program Agreement and discuss them only in the Xbox Private Forums and/or by filing feedback via the Connect Portal.

Download/Reinstall Reminder:

As a member of the pre-release program you may experience some interesting download behavior if you have not yet updated your applications to the released version. Please follow the steps below to make sure you have the latest, released version of our applications.

1. Navigate to Settings --> Storage and Delete all instances of the application

2. Reboot Console – the app will no longer show up in QuickPlay, My Apps, or Guide

3. Navigate to the Apps Hub or Apps Marketplace and redownload the application

4. The latest version will now show up in QuickPlay, MyApps, or Guide

As Dailymotion is listed for UK,i downloaded that today, and it's pretty good

I have watched some comedy with David Mitchell, watched a news coverage of Mission Impossible 4,and there is a 7 minute documentary on Skwalker ranch(no words or voices),and damn, that place looks great, imagine walking on those hills in the background and still being on your own land....so,er,yeah i hate George Lucas

I downloaded the Sci Fi channel app as well from my American Account, but not too keen on that...oh and yes,it's still sci fi..not SyFy which is gay
