Trailer
Enjoyable film, maybe not as good as X-Men First Class, but certainly up there with the other superhero movies
The Story
Set in the 40s during World War II,Steve Rodgers(Chris Evans) is a small guy and he wants to join the army to fight, but keeps getting knocked back because of various health problems
After overhearing Rodgers complaining to his friend Bucky(Sebastian Stan) about the ordeal,Dr Abraham Erskine(Stanley Tucci) gives Rodgers a chance and enters him into the Super Soldier Program knowing that it isn't just brawn they are looking for, when passing the test after jumping on a test grenade Rodgers is transformed into Captain America, but just because it worked doesn't mean he gets to fight,he instead is used as Propaganda war and becomes more of an icon than a soldier with kids reading Captain America comics and there being a tour of the stage show starring an increasingly embarrassed Steve Rodgers himself
Rodgers has to go against the orders of Colonel Chester Philips(Tommy Lee Jones) with the help of Peggy Carter(Hayley Atwell)to prove his worth, and he gets more than he bargained for when he finds that his enemy is the head of Hydra terrorist organization(using the war as an excuse to cause shit)is Johann schmidt AKA Red Skull(Hugo Weaving)
The Cast
pretty damn good actually,i gotta say that Brit lass Hayley Atwell as Cap's Love interest Peggy Carter nearly steals the show as she is in top form
Chris Evans cements the fact that he is now Captain America and not Johnny Storm anymore

Tommy Lee Jones was as great as he usually is,but Hugo Weaving as Red Skull was good, but kinda underused really i would of loved him to of had more fun with the character

Special Effects
Remember that this is a film set in the 40s,but still it has some great effects in the film, mainly Chris Evans himself as a weedy wimpy guy with a small frame, you can't tell that it isn't his body
This was filmed here in the North West of England, while i did not recognize any of the Manchester filmed New York street scenes,i did notice Liverpool's Albert Docks in the film, with plenty of big bangs and explosions along the way
3D
What's this?...3D was actually good?,nah i don't believe you....actually it's true, although not exactly overused in the film there were some scenes where Cap would throw his frisbee Shield and it would rebound of a tank and towards the screen which would make me duck, thankfully the cinema was empty
but the 3D as said wasn't in every scene,so that maybe why i liked it more in this film
End of Credits
Disappointing, while other 'Avengers' films-Thor,Iron Man 1 and 2,The Incredible Hulk have all had scenes to lead up to The Avengers movie next year,Captain America just and a trailer for the film...which wont be as good when i have all these films on DVD
Overall
it is a great film,Joe Johnston the director(who won an Oscar for Raiders of the Lost Ark Special Effects, and also did effects for the original Star Wars films and original Battlestar Galactica, this guy did the final designs for Boba Fett and Yoda)got the 1940s look just right, the cast all seem to be having a good time...the only thing i have to complain about is Hugo Weavings Red Skull really could of done with having some back up,and also the Howling Commando's(Caps Team)could of done with more exposure
