just got back from seeing this

Running time about 130 minutes

here's the trailer

Absolutely loved it,i wasn't expecting much from this because TBH i wasn't that blown away from the trailer at first, but after seeing it i am undecided whether its the best X-men film to date..yeah i liked it that much

The Story

you all know the X-men,well this is how they started, the story is based primarily in the 1960s,it also charts how Charles(Professor X)and Eric(Magneto)became friends, with new and already known mutants looking in on the story along the way

this has WWII elements,Cold War and also the Cuban Missile Crisis within its story

Cast

when seeing the trailer,i was more afraid of 'X-men does Twilight' more than anything, macho guys and great looking women, sure it has that, but it never really felt that it was about sex,or at least not to me

James McAvoy plays Charles Xavier, but really he is playing Patrick Stewart and he does it well, but still adds something of his own

Michael Fassbender for me was the stand out as Magneto,he has a lot of anger stored up and he is always fighting that, yet it was great to see him and the Professor working together as the friends they are

Kevin Bacon, yeah can't say i was over the moon when i heard The Baconator was in this,i don't mind him but thought he would be better in something that isn't an action film, but again another surprise as i thought he did a great job, maybe because a lot of his lines were either in German or Russian(as in both, not that i can't decide which)..but he still has a fair share of English lines

the supporting acts were good as well,Jennifer Lawrence was great as Mystique, she really was exactly like Rebecca Romijn who played Mystique in the first lot of X-Men films,Rose Byrne played a CIA agent who sides with the X-men..and all i can think off is Elizabeth Hurley type character from Austin Powers,LOL...she was exactly the same!!,and also cool was Nicholas Hoult who played Dr.Hank McCoy(who was previously played by Kelsey Grammer in X3)

Special Effects

after seeing Pirates 4,and there not being that many effects in the film, this one is as you can imagine for an X-Men film pretty much the opposite, they were done by WETA(who seem to be the new Industrial,Light and Magic),and they looked good, none looked corny or badly done..and with the many mutants in the film, there were lots

3D
it was not filmed in 3D(or added later or however they do it),and i am not the biggest fan of 3D either,so seeing this and enjoying it i am not sure if that me not being the biggest fan could be a factor,3D could probably easily do some scenes good, but overall...i was not upset that there was none

End of Credits

so both Thor and Pirates 4 had post credit scenes, and this one...didn't

so when the credits start to roll people, you can walk out of the cinema

that being said though i think it was only X-Men Wolverine and X-men 3 that had post credit scenes, and there is no build up for any Avengers type movie,so i guess no need to do one

anything that pissed me off?
you know,i like the whole universe of Marvel,so i like my films to gel...and there are a few things that don't gel with the X-men Origins Wolverine movie, meaning that some things that happen in Wolverine(which is mostly set after this film)don't make sense, maybe i am missing something i don't know but i wont go into what they are,not yet anyway..and it is one of the very few things that i didn't like, and even then its not really that big a deal

Summary
maybe its because i wasn't expecting it to be mega great(because of the trailers) that my expectations were low that may have been the reason why i loved it so much...i don't know, maybe because there is action as well as some attempt of a decent story..who knows,LOL

i loved the film..better than Wolverine?=yup(and i liked that film),Xmen 3=yup(and i like that film),better than 1?..i am gonna say yes...better than X-men 2......that's the question for me,and i am undecided

if you like any of the X-Men films, then i am positive that you will enjoy this

oh and small spoiler
Spoiler

Have to agree with the review and was glad I went. Very good movie. The actors were people I didn't know and that helped me focus on how they were creating the characters than the actors themselves.

Yes Bacon was in it and he stepped up to the plate as head of the Hellfire club. Haven't seen the first 3 in years and from what I remember of them, I liked this a little more.
