This was no such great departure from the first three films, even though this time it's Rob Marshall directing and a lot of the original cast are missing,i enjoyed the film,it was better than number 3,but probably not as good as parts 1 and 2(IMO of course)
The Cast

you know what Johnny Depp is all about now as (captain)Jack Sparrow, well then expect the same, although this time some scenes with him do feel a bit hammy,or is that JD just having fun with the character?,i can never tell
Geoffrey Rush is also back as Barbossa, only this time his interests are now for the current King of England(King George, played by Richard Griffiths)
Ian McShane i thought did a fine job as Blackbeard and Penelope Cruz is an ex of Jacks, although TBH i just couldn't figure out her character at all,but she does sometimes nearly burst out of her top

The Story
Like Thor,i wont go into all the details
without giving too much away,it starts of in London, where King George wants Jack and Barbossa to work together to beat the Spanish to the Fountain of Youth

hmm,yup,that'll do
Special Effects
there were very few special effects in the film actually, sure the Mermaids..but it certainly didn't have as many special effects as the first 3 films(if you think about the cursed crew in the moonlight or Davy Jones and his crew)..and what special FX there were, they worked fine...but yeah, don't expect to see the film filled with them, because trying to think now,i would say about 10-15 minutes worth is all you will get in this one

there are a few big explosions though,so that's nice

3D
The 3D in the film went fine(i went to another cinema this time round),but to be honest there wasn't much need for the 3D,there were one or two scenes that i thought looked great in 3D the rest looked fine...but what really pissed me off,was the fact that they went to Friday the 13th part 3 or Jaws 3D tactics,as in point pointy things at the camera.Everytime Blackbeard got his sword out,he pointed it at the camera, felt a bit cheesy

gonna see this film in 2D?...you wont lose out
End of Credits
Did you stick around until the end of the credits in Pirates 3 for the extra scene?...well do the same for Pirates 4,there is a small scene waiting for you again
Summery
it's another fun film,no doubt, but no big laughs i thought though(like no hapless duo or funny monsters/crewmates) and no exciting sword fights like the one in the big water wheel thing in number 2,or the two ships in a whirlpool fight in number 3
was the film missing Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom?not a chance
was the film missing Gore Verbinsky?..again,I don't think so,i really don't think he could of done a better job than what Rob Marshall did(equal maybe sure)
the overall script i thought could of been better...but in the end,did you enjoy the first 3 films?..yeah?..then you will enjoy this one i am sure
8 out of 10 Metal Orphans(damn,i am turning into Eurogamer)
