be aware that because of the new dashboard having improved audio,you wont be able to be in a party chat with someone who is not in the beta.....until of course when the dashboard updates for everyone

not sure about normal chat in games though

just get all your friends to try and get in.

so,i was expecting to wait for at least another week(they said within the next two weeks,so that's cool)



i will no doubt have some impressions for you guys when my 360 updates,i will especially be seeing how smoothly/fast it runs seen as though i have 3 quarters of my HDD filled and also that i have 190+ games on my profile card...and of course how fast the friends list appears

haha..Mr Bean bear,he put that bear through some right shit in the series,i think he used it to mop the floor or clean up at one point


okay the new dashboard is up for those who signed up

yeah i have good points and bad points,i haven't done searching around yet

things are much more speedy navigating around the dash,go into the game marketplace and with the overhaul,you just need to press A again to go to new releases(although all you needed to do last time was go into the game marketplace and press right and then A) ..but everything is there for how you want to search,alphabetically etc..you don't need to go into browse,you just need to scroll up and down

the friends list is much better,as in Premium themes..on the old dash the friends list used to go off into the distance,if you were highlighted on one person,the next person was slightly back,until you moved it over and that one came to the front,now as they are all lined up next to each other,the backgrounds behind your friends avatars take up more room and it all feels a lot fuller when on the friends list

when i went into my xbox page,my profile>>next to your card it has account management,there you can see how much MSP you have in your account...and next to that all your game cards are listed and they load up decently fast(i have about 190+ games)..the achievement pictures take a few seconds but it still feels quicker

the start up screen is different now,and it shows the new Xbox colours flying around the usual Xbox Sphere

there are now Square Speech bubbles from avatars saying their mottos....which is neither here nor there,LOL

i didn't actually notice a difference with the avatars themselves i will take a closer look later on

okay one of the worse things i hated was coming out of a XBLA game and it going to the game section,but taking ages to load all your HDD games up...its still maga slow,its fine when you first enter your games,but after you play your game and select return to arcade from the games menu,then you are there forever waiting for the games to load up

on the dash,your name and score in the top right hand corner is much smaller in print,i can still read it,but i am sure some people will complain

Avatars-okay this is at the moment a big deal,i am sure MS will fix it...correction,they better fix it-everything i have bought from the Avatar marketplace wont show up,when you go to the avatar creation,you can see your stuff listed,but you can't wear it

i was wearing my Halo Reacharound Beta Tester hoodie and Jun helmet that i unlocked from Halo Reacharound...yup,can't access any of them,nor my Ghost outfit from MW2,Fozzie bear outfit...you name it nothing...my avatar got a blue T-Shirt(that looks a little like it has the RROD on the front)...furthermore,all people on my friends list who has bought avatar stuff,show up wearing this blue T-Shirt...as i say,MS should fix that :disgust:

this maybe because of the above problem,but the avatar customization screen takes a while to load up

Blade/guide is as we know looks a lot different,but its no quicker accessing your friends or messages from there

there are a few new options in your profile....there is an option for Microsoft to allow to collect some of your speech samples with Kinect so that they can learn more for speech recognition

if you have your online status showing,then friends can see what music or videos you are watching(guessing this is with downloaded material or even for Kinect..not sure)

there was another update today,and this one took longer to download(about a minute more)..and when it finished it gave me a tutorial on how to use the dashboard (yes as in use the thumbsticks to move about etc)


also i have found out,not sure if its this update or was hidden away from yesterday

Avatars-,you can take your avatar picture,and you can choose a pose from many available..and then you can add a different background,like Chequered flag,hills and sky,stars...and more that i can't remember,i chose fire and flames..which will go well when i get my Fozzie Bear outfit back,LOL


talking about outfits,there was an update within the avatar customization where it updates all the clothes to the current avatars,it failed 3 times(i had to go into memory and delete the avatar update so i could try again)..and when it finally updated okay,only my Boom Box was there,all my other stuff i bought still aren't available


a few other things i have noticed,when you put a game in and it needs an update,the size of the update is now shown,i put Pinball FX on yesterday and that needed a 1mb update while LAST.FM needed a 2mb update

and there are now sounds when you move about the dashboard




EDIT:one more thing i forgot

i signed into my US silver account...and apparently its no longer 'Xbox Live Silver'...its called 'Xbox Live Free'...which is a bit shit if you ask me,unless they are gonna have a whole new tier system in the near future

maybe have Xbox Live Silver as Gold (silver features with online play) and have Gold as it is now as a new higher tier with all the features that hardly anyone uses

or maybe they really have just rebranded it to a shit name

yea said on the xbox connect site that avatar stuff wouldnt show until the full rollout of the new dashboard, you still have it you just wont see it until november
and i didnt flip through the friends list on the dash for long but none of my friends avatars had features, were just a silver figure pretty much
other than that, played out on espn and netflix search, espn is so far so good, watch live games, they had some college football up but i dont really follow it so i watched a couple highlights from the week and they loaded quick, even give you a preview when youre scrolling through. netflix got a facelift sort of, similar to the new dashboard, everything is in the foreground next to each other, tried the search option and it works pretty quick, just took a while for the movies picture to show up, even gives you the option to add to dvd queue if instant play isnt available

Got the new dash today..... OW! MY EYES! So much white, really giving me a headache. Getting a bit of motion sickness from the friends list, and it's just too damn hard to read any text.

The netflix search is a really nice feature, and by nice I mean 'better than the nothing we had before'. Haven't tried marketplace yet, maybe I'll find something good in there.

At least the interface moves cleaner now. But they gotta change those colors. It's getting more and more difficult to justify the LIVE subscription. :-(

Me Too. Figured that one out though. Go to System Settings -> Audio. There is an option to Disable Dashboard Sounds.

Now your dash can be as silent as your family on the day you came out of the closet.
