so last week i went and saw Iron man2, so we open with the standard issue trailer
So Tony Stark is lapping it up, not only is he an international playboy megastar he is also a super hero and has single handedly brought peace to America.
But behind the scenes Tony is falling apart. the palladium in his arc reactor that is keeping him alive is poisoning his blood and is killing him at the same time in and he is having no luck find a replacement. The government want the Iron Man suit, but i wont let them have it and just bats them away with is charisma. so a guy called Justin Hammer (a rival weapons developer) is trying to woo the Government with his efforts (which are pretty crap), But Col Rhodes (Don Cheadle, who i think was crap and i liked the other guy) manages to steal one of Tonys suits (and hands it to the government for modification) when Tony makes a complete prat of himself and (what he thinks will be his last) birthday
Mickey Rouke plays Ivan Vanko, a guy that used to work with Tonys father, Howard but was sent back to Russia and stews in his own pot of revenge for 30 odd yrs after been found out he was feeding intel back to the Russians (dam those Ruskies!!). He builds his own arc reactor and tries (and fails) to kills Stark at a Monaco race, he is then scooped up by Hammer to build them with their own Iron man weapon development project
I wont go any further than that, i will move on to my opinion:
The films kicks off really well and its laying IM1 to waste, but after the Monaco fight with with Vanko, the action stops and they try to build this emotional story and its more driven by Tony's internal downfall. My view is this doesnt really work as we hold Stark in such hi regard we don't really believe he is dying, it then picks up again in the final act but it almost turns into transformers and goes a bit to mad. Sam Jackson (Nick Fury) pops his head round along with Scarlet Johanson, but they are so underused you do kinda think "whats the point?"
The film aint bad, but I can see why it i came out in Apr/May rather than the jun/jul window with the "proper" summer blockbusters. This film feels this over whelming urge that is has to trounce the first film and i feel it damages itself in the process
All in all, I didnt come away saying it was crap, but i didnt walk away saying, "man that was awesome, blew me away" either
6 Skintoxications out of 10. Bluray? only if i have the money
Oh BTW Orph, that pic where RDjr is in the suit with the shades on "chillin" that is film pic and not a behind the scene shots

Movie Review: Iron Man 2

hmm, good stuff skin, very interesting.....i loved the first Iron Man but thought in a very Xmen 1 way that it felt more like a trailer for more to come
shame if number 2 isn't that great,i didn't see IM1 until DVD,so no doubt i will wait for this for DVD as well
EDIT:had to add,i don't usually like Gwyneth Paltrow, but something about her in the first film i was crazy about her, here's hoping she still looks stunning(eg i fancied the ass off Rachel Weize in The Mummy, but not so much in The Mummy 2...prolly too much make-up,i can't remember)
The Avengers film (not the shite Sean Connery one)is still on the cards with all kinds of Superheroes...and both RDJ as Tony Stark and Sammy Jackson as Nick fury are apparently cast(and Chris Evans who played Johnny storm in Fantastic 4,however he plays Captain America in this,as he plays Captain America in the new film due before this)...Ed Norton reprising his Hulk role is only rumoured at the moment..2012 release
guessing we could see The Avengers before Iron Man 3 if all goes well
(pogue have you changed something about this site?,some things look slightly different)

Like what? I don't think I changed anything really. Don't forget Hugo Weaving is going to be the Red Skull

yea good not great, disagree with rhodey though, think cheadle was much better although little screen time. scarlett johansen was great, hope to see more of her. vanko didnt work with tonys father, vankos father did, and he vows revenge upon his death. think there wasnt enough action, and this was more of a filler movie

yeah for the Cap America film, not sure if he will be in The Avengers as a baddie
as for the changes, some of it looks softer, especially the reply buttons and the smiley faces when creating a post etc..and also when you go to new posts, the lines inbetween the new posts topics look more highlighted...maybe i have updated Firefox and its made this happen,i dunno
