well, its been a while since i posted a movie review, indeed its been quite a while since i have actually been to the cinema

today,i went to see Terminator Salvation.

Terminator Salvation is a story set in the 1800s in the countryside of Devon England and is about a man called Nigel who loves a woman called Doris, but the parents wont let them marry.....and Doris isn't over the moon about Nigel being a wuss......

actually Terminator Salvation is the 4th in the Terminator films....still not really sure if i would call it a sequel or a prequel

John Connor is now a bad ass military leader and the war with Skynet is in full force

the action switches from John Connor(Batman) and his band of merry men to Kyle Reese, who is trying to escape L.A,and Kyle befriends a guy called Marcus Wright
Posted Image

who is tough as they come and can fix anything,cars,radios....where they hear John Connor's voice speaking to the Resistance, and they decide they need to find John Connor

Posted Image

john, and co(who includes a heavily pregnant misses-Bryce Dallas Howard)are preparing to attack Skynet,as they have come across a code that when used as a signal, shuts down Terminators and Hunters, and there are lots of different type of Terminators now,not just humanoid type, and all with the same goal Cold Ice Cream on a hot day kill the human race...yes that old ploy,...this signal will shut down everything that is Skynet

along the way Marcus joins up with a woman of Connors group called Blair and is pretty much the eye candy of the film
Posted Image

thats pretty much the plan of action,i wont tell you anymore

Posted Image

there are lots of small touches, and some bigger touches that connects this film to the past Terminator films

please dont click on the spoiler, unless you have seen the film...

its much better not knowing this shit until you see itClick for read!
okay, first of all there are these bad ass Motorcycle terminators, that you may of seen on the trailers...

well,John, decides he wants to bag one..as Terminators are attracted to sound..in the middle of a desert highway,he puts jukebox on high volume

the song playing?..Guns N' Roses-You could be mine

Posted Image

you also see John looking at pictures of Sarah Connor(THE photo from the end of T1)...and listening to the tape recordings she made, while she was having that photo taken,if you remember..didnt sound like the original Linda Hamilton though

now as you didn't click on that, you didn't did you?

don't click on this one either...

the part that stole the filmClick for read!
Connor has broken into Skynet and into the production factory of all Terminators, while Gawping through a glass window of one cell, the door blasts right off...behind the door?...

Arnold Schwarzenegger ...not the Arnold Schwarzenegger who is Governor of California,he didnt step into do some scenes

it isn't even the Arnold Schwarzenegger from Terminator 2 and Terminator 3

This is Arnold Schwarzenegger from 1984 The original Terminator...how the fuck they did it,i don't know, but it looked great.....Buff as fuck, naked and has 1984 hair floppy, couldn't see if his penis was floppy this time..best part of the film, and Connor fights with him

and i am not sure why,but this Terminator, again gave me the chill unlike other Terminators, you got that sense of wont stop until it drops, never ending, always persuing...class!!

what did i think of the film?

well,it was good, lots of cool action...there was kind of a theme running through the film, which i thought was a bit shit...but in the end i was happy seeing it,the actual end itself is also a bit shit...but still

Christian Bale i thought was great..the kid who played Kyle Reese was a bit of a wimp at first but he soon toughened up,and the guy playing Marcus Wright(Sam Worthington)was also pretty damn good..Bryce Dallas Howard who played a heavily pregnant Kate Connor, was very much wasted i thought, she is a pretty good actress and pretty fit to boot...but i thought she could of been more in this film, maybe if she hadnt been up the duff
Posted Image

one more thing that i thought was great...the film was dedicated to the loving memory of Stan Winston!!..nice touch

Every person that I talked to said that it lacked action, and I was like.. "You're telling me, a sci fi buff who has seen every Terminator movie and show, that the action packed saga that is Terminator, the latest movie lacks action?"
and they're like, "Yeah, crazy huh?"
I usually reply with, "Are you sure you weren't watching the new Ben Stiller movie?"
lol

there definetly was action in it...again it may of been because of the theme running through the film, may of made the action scenes take a back step, but i think it was alright for the action....sure it could of done with more, what film doesnt,LOL

I went and saw teminator today as well(i wont do a comprehensive review as Orph has covered all the base (very well i may add)), i thought it was a bloody good film, Wouldnt say it was an awesome film but a very very good film.

there were planty of action sequencies, but you do feel that some of the action was put there to kinda prop the film up, as when things calmed down the story wasnt about man against the machines (or the human race struggling to survive), it was more based around Sam Worthington charatcer, Marcus. which was a good story but I feel it stuggled to make it across 2hrs.

I felt the film sometimes rode of the coat tails of the other Terminators and at the same time it also bent the Terminator saga a bit too much to serve itself, JJ Abrams managed to update the Stark trek series without up setting the Die hard trekkies, but McG wasnt able to pull off the same feat.

Bryce Dallas Howard was seriously under used, all she seems to was look worried and rub her belly (and seemed to have found a way took look awesome while the human race struggled to feed itself). She would have maybe been better used playing the Blair williams charatcher, but Moon Bloodgood was just fine be me.

I really did like the film (even though this might not look like it) and it will be a bluray purchase. I just felt there could have been a bit more on the screen. the opening battle scene intorducing Connor, didnt blow me off my feet like i was expecting and why is that every vehicle Conner got in/on he managed to crash?

I will go with Orphs 8/10, i just feel it could/should have been a 9

Damn, I've got to go see this film. I can't click the spoilers yet, so I'm not in on the fun.
Why am I in the Forums instead of gaming on LIVE?
