The kind of nice family that I come from. My brother came back from seeing Watchmen. I asked him how it was and his reply was "YOU HAVE TO GO SEE IT!". I asked him about 30 times if it was really that good. His only reply was "YOU HAVE TO GO SEE IT!". Finally after about 15 minutes of this he finally admitted that the only reason that he wanted me to go see is was so that he wouldn't feel so bad about wasting his money on it. He said it was 3 hours of watching "The BLUE SCHLONG" swaying around the movie screen. He said that at least the story line sucked. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this and what your thoughts are of it.

yeah i went and saw it, i thought it was directionless, unfocused 3hr bum numb-er. It was that bad that i didnt bother doing a review here (looks like i am about to)
Seeing as it was directed by the the guy that did 300 and it was based on the Comic/graphic novel, the cinematics just werent there (we were lead to belive differently in the trailers).
You didnt really care who killed the Comedian as he was an asshole anyway. Dr Manhattan walking around with his "popsicle" out in every scene just wasnt needed.

Rorshach (or however you spell his name) was only relief, i thought he was great (the kickings he dished out in prision were awesome). I kept wondering if he was played by the same guy who played the Sherminator in American Pie (evidently it wasnt BTW).

As you know aint aint really a comic book guy, usually i can thread myself into these kinda films quite easily, but this was either shit or i just didnt get "it". Mates of mine who are fans of the comic raved about it, but for a "normal" film goers this will all go over your head

Thanks for the heads up

I'm gonna see it, I got free tix to it.

I was too young to really grasp the graphic novel back in the day, I was a marvel boy anyway and DC stuff didn't perk my interest except the Flash and Crisis of Infinite Earths Back in the 80's.

I collected comics from both Marvel and the DC universes. That is until Superman became Above average man. DC lost me when Superman could no longer fly to and through the sun. One of the Original Trivial Pursuit questions asked how Superman cleaned his Super suit. The answer was to fly through the sun and burn everything off. The straw that broke the camel's back was that he needed a respirator to travel amongst the stars. I pretty much stopped reading comics at that point. My other favorite DC was Firestorm, but they ruined that one by having him be split personalities with just about every lame person in the DC universe instead of Prof. Stein. I can see why DC is having problems with movies. They have no focus for their comics and they lack a person of vision that Marvel has in Stan Lee. There was a Fantastic Four movie that was made in the late 80's that Stan Lee sued to keep from release, because after he saw the movie he said it was terrible. It was supposed to be along the lines of the film direction and darkness of the first Batman movie with Michael Keaton. You can't even find any mention that the Fantastic Four movie was even made. Kind of like the Nicotine free cigarettes that came out in the Late 80's early 90's that no one bought and no one remembers them trying to sell. As far as the Watchmen goes, I turned off Borat as soon as they showed his shlong. The movie was terrible up to that point and I just didn't need to see anymore. No since in me even seeing Watchmen. If I wanted to see a blue shlong I can just turn out the lights in my room and turn on my blue lava lamp and look at myself in the mirror. I'll pass at that too.

i had heard about that F4 film, just looked it up on IMDB,it was 1994

IMDB

it has this attached

Quote

In an interview with filmmaker Kevin Smith, Fantastic Four creator Stan Lee said that, unbeknown to the cast and crew, this movie was never intended to be released, and was made only because the studio who owned the rights to make a Fantastic Four movie would have lost the rights if they did not begin production by a certain date.

whether thats true or an excuse for Stan Lee not to release it like you said i dunno

i liked Borat,he has a new movie out soon Bruno, the gay reporter who seems hell bent on trying to wind up Americans again,i just saw him actually yesterday in Talladega nights with Will Ferrell,he played the French racing driver

actual comics i never really collected, apart from MAD magazine..i did have issue one of the Termninator comic that came out early 90s prolly just after T2,that was very cool...and i have a hardback books on Xmen and Batman..70s Batman i always liked(in the comics)..when they began starting to make him more dark and mysterious

There is a few VHS movies, (very few) that showed the Fantastic four movie going straight to home video. This never happened. I saw an interview with Stan Lee later and he said that he owed it to his F4 fans to make sure that the movie never saw the light of day.
