oh dear.....
we all know that Harrison Ford is like 65 so its understandable it wasnt gonna be the roller coaster of "Temple of Doom" or "Raiders". but this was weak at best. Ford looked tired on screen, a shell of the Indy we know and love, whether that was on purpose or not i dunno,
The Story line was just awful, it wasnt about finding something, it more about returning it (WTF?!) so there was no chase/pursuit, it was just a backward treasure hunt,I couldnt understand what it was all about and then when the ending did reveal itself it was very poor, it went more Sci Fi than Mythology (bad move).
Shave your Boosh, I mean Shia Le Beaof, did his best, but he played some tough rebel kid, it would have been better if they had him as a nerd at least then he could of added some of that "complimentary chaos" that he does so well. This film didnt compliment the other films, it merely rode on it coat tails. there were a few funny bits but it didnt even close to compensating you for a film that lacked direction and pace. The Phantom Menace of the Indy films
2 out of 5, no, 2 out of 10
Why is it that when George Lucas is given a lolly stick, a rubber band and 30 bucks he make some of the most amazing films ever, give him a blank cheque and he makes crap?

TBH i think George Lucas needs to direct another film that has NOTHING to do with star wars or indy....i really wanna see what he CAN do away from SW and Indy(and yes,i remember Howard the duck...but maybe things will be different now),we know he can be a good director(star wars3 and 4)..but he has been in the shadow of these two film series for too long...American Graffiti was good, but that was nearly 40 years ago!!(35 actually)
films GL has directed(not included shorts)
THX1138
American Graffiti
star wars:a new hope
star wars:the phantom menace
star wars:attack of the clones
star wars:revenge of the sith
thats it!!!!
steven spielberg needs to get E.T.part 2 out..nah just kidding...he needs to get band of brothers2:the pacific war out,i have been waiting too long for that!!
will spielberg have his jaws/raiders/ET/jurassic/private ryan moment again?
would it even hurt spielberg to go back to alien type movies?...close encounters is a great movie, and then ET after that...as long as the special effects didnt overtake the movie(SW),a modern take on flying saucers etc could be great if he did it...he could make a film like 'SIGNS'...only good(signs had promise, but didnt deliver for me)
Harrison Ford TBH maybe my favourite actor(right up there with clint eastwood and jack nicholson)but the future doesnt look good for him now,the roles were drying up before this indy film,so i cant see this one doing him any favours
the thing is,Harrison Ford told steven spielberg that he was ready to play indiana jones again in 1996..but SS was going through a period where he wanted his kids to see that he did meaningful movies as well(at that time it was schindlers list or saving private ryan)...maybe if indy 4 did come out in 1996-97 it may of worked better
as i said when we were discussing bladerunner, harrisons last Sci Fi film was Jedi..but now i dont think he should go back to sci-fi...prolly make good dramas like Witness was
if what you say is true Skin(and from what i have heard elsewhere i dont doubt it)..the shine seems to finally, definetly come off these 3(i think we could say Lucas was first to fall, followed by Ford..or maybe the other way round however you see revenge of the sith, and now finally Spielberg)<<these 3 are some of the best in the business,so it hurts to see them like this
i wouldnt mind seeing these 3 do something together again...it would be a nice change if it wasnt indiana jones or star wars

and yeah i can see what you mean Skin, when the smile wasnt quite right(no shiteating grin)and the hat wasnt quite as crooked as it used to be
the movie is a lot more over the top that even i can stand...
[Close]
and for the first 30 minutes, what was up with those gophers?(the little animal type, not tiger woods type, incase you can't spell)...it seemed to be just a gopher every 5-10 minutes,it looked good(as it was a special effect),but didnt need it all the time
Cate Blanchett was good,as usual.......and it was good to see John Hurt again(the original Alien chestbuster),I havent seen him in a film since..
V for Vendetta, although i thought he was playing Abner Ravenwood(even though he was meant to be dead)and i havent heard of him in the news since he got drunk and said that every man likes to try on womens clothing,so...thanks for letting that one out of the bag John!!!
even though i am happy that marion and indy are back together(i still fancy Karen Allen)...getting married???..that means there prolly wont be anymore adventures(god help if there is a husband/wife/son adventure down the road)..i am just glad that indy got to his hat before shia could try it on
and that spaceship ....was just so far away from usual Indy films
[Close]
also,my hearing must be getting worse(if thats possible),as i was at third row from the front and a lot of dialogue i missed because people like Indy or Mac(Ray winstone)were mumbling....so,perhaps i will enjoy it more on DVD with subtitles
anyway,as said in my post above i would like to see the big 3(harry,george ,steven)all get back to making fantastic films...not decent or so-so ones
saw a trailer for the new star wars cartoon that comes out in August i think, looks okay, wont be going to the cinema though i dont think

I had my worries from when they use the metal in the gunpower to find the magnetic artifact. when you push the audiences suspension of disbelief too far you begining to pick holes and the whole things and it falls apart. In the previous ones, it was completely insanely over the top but you bought into it, that what let this film down was it was "too unbeliveable"

they have this section called the green room that has quotes from famous people, taken from interviews etc
well, yesterday it had Harrison Ford saying he is up for returning to indiana jones, and hopes this time it will happen sooner rather than later
so,indiana jones 5?
this is from an article from April
Quote
Though the most likely possibility is Shia LaBeouf carrying on the series, “Indiana Jones” star Harrison Ford tells USA Today that “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” might not be the character’s final film appearance - if George Lucas and Steven Spielberg can get get their asses in gear and have a fifth “Indiana Jones” film ready soon - rather than in another twenty years - Ford says he’d consider playing the Man in the Hat again.
Ford tells the stone tablet that Indiana Jones, as a character, hasn’t changed much since we first met him in 1982. “He’s a guy who is pretty clear from the beginning,” the actor says. “He has not changed so much between films. But we’ve learned more about him, through various plot devices, such as the introduction of his father. And we’ll learn something more about him in this film. I think it’s required. If you’re going to bring back a character, you’ll have to supply the audience with something more and different.”
Do it up! I am game for more Indy Action; as long as the stories are good - why not. This character is a legendary explorer, and this type of work lends itself to countless stories of adventure without tiring out a series. You assume Indy has been on countless adventures; to see a window into many of them - simply fleshes out your imagination.
Harrison is no idiot and knows that he’s approaching an age where he would rather be drinking in a lawn chair than working. Wisely, he lets it known that he will do more films - but they have to be done asap. Hopefully this carrot on a string will get Spielberg and Lucas in gear to do another film shortly. If the numbers are as big as I think they will be for this picture, I reckon it is safe to say that we can expect at least one more outing. Godspeed Indy, godspeed
Harrison and indy together again?

Harrison Ford IS Indy; always has been, always will be. There is no doubt that he will always be good in any Indy film. The problem, is with the person(s) behind the film.
Lucas has officially lost it. Whatever it was, is gone. I really can't think of a good script he's written since the original Star Wars / Indy movies. Everything since then has been utter crap (OK, Episodes 2 and 3 were only marginally crap, but damn they came close). He should never write a script again.
It's really hard to fault Spielberg for this when he was handed this steaming pile of crap and told to "make it look good". The only thing I fault him for is not recognizing this for what it is and kicking George square in the nuts. Same goes for Harrison Ford. Those two could have put a stop to this, but they didn't. So they both deserve a kick in the nuts for not kicking George in the nuts.
What the hell, everyone gets a kick in the nuts. (Except Karen Allen, she gets a titty twister)
And so, in summary:
No Indy 5
George Lucas should stop writing scripts
Spielberg and Ford have no will power of their own
Everyone involved with the movie gets one kick in the nuts, except Lucas who gets two, and Allen who gets a titty twister
Did I mention that I was really disappointed by this movie?

i will gladly give Allen a titty twister(we call them Turnips as well)
and yeah i posted above the quote that the quote was from April, however the comment HF made yesterday was made from a recent interview in the past few days
looking at GL s profile on IMDB,and he is to be an executive producer for a film called Red Tails which is a WWII film, about the first African-American to fly in combat...and other than the star wars CG movie,he has nothing

HAHAHA this rant reminds me, has anybody seen that South Park episode where the boys try and get Lucas & Speilberg to quit making special editions?

so,Atlantis would be good....maybe an underwater cave as we cant have Indy in Scuba gear
Bermuda Triangle-no,i dont know how he could find,or explore this..but the Triangle has always intrigued and fasinated me
Pogue-Spear of Destiny would of been great for a Indy Vs Nazi film,as Hitler was meant to be connected to that somehow, but now its 1950s Indy(or perhpas 1960s by the time the film comes out),so how about those Neo Nazis(i admit that the Nazi's are the greatest enemies mankind has ever known, and definetly Indy's best bad guys)...was the spear of destiny the spear a Roman used to stab Jesus while he was on the cross still?
the Lost world?.....Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote a fictional book on it(a book i would still like to read as i am a sherlock holmes fan)..but there has always been mention that a lost world could exist...BUT,is that too Tomb Raider 1-ish?
i remember one of the rumours that surfaced for being an Indy 4 film a few years ago was 'Indiana Jones and the Real Lost Ark'...as in searching for Noah's ark...i personally think thats a shit idea
anyone got anymore?...as i am all dried up
oh,and did anyone else think the flesheating ants in the 4th film was like the scarabs from The Mummy?

Indiana Jones and the Search for the Missing Death Star Plans
Indiana Jones and the Search for Fraggle Rock
Indiana Jones and the Forbidden Kingdom
