With the 360's selling well, and the premium (120gb) being sold out everywhere I'm looking, I need an answer to the cheapie $280 arcade box.

I see it has hdmi, does it have the same audio video outputs as the others units?= vga out, and digital audio out?

I want to make sure it has fiber optic output (toslink) that you use for the sound.

I know Pengwenn has one and I can't find anywhere on line what the back of the arcade mahine looks like.

I plan on getting a 120 drive to throw on it. I'm peice mealing it togehter becasue I have some some gift cards at a couple of stores that I can use to get it all for under a $100.

to the best of my understanding the two models are the same in every way except for there hard drive.

YOU ARE WRONG!! Hehe, just kidding sdlkal. I think you are right sdl, the only difference is the lack of hard drive. I think it's just the same as the Xbox Nat, where you just buy the component cable and it has a port on the plug of the cable for the toslink. At least I'm hoping that is the case.

Actually, one of the 'perks' of the Elite, it includes all cables. The arcade version may have the capability, but the cable may be a separate purchase. Make sure you factor that into your cost. You can probably find one on ebay somewhere.

Is the optical digital out on the 360 box or cable plug? I plan on hooking with hdmi anyway. I don't believe the audio follows in the hdmi with the xbox right? I believe if I want component (3 vid cables) I have to buy an adapter like the original xbox?

The Optical Digital Audio is on a 'breakout box' style cable. But if you are going to use HDMI, don't worry about it. HDMI is Audio and Video combined.

Yes, I purchased an Arcade 360 as a back up (which dain is currently using because he got RRoD) and here's what I can tell you. There is a HDMI port on the back but a cable is not included. The cable that it comes with does not have coponent video. Just red, yellow, white connections. Besides not having a hard drive the one other differences are the power cord connecting to the system does not have the 2 bumps on either sid that you have to press to pull it out. And the tray door and buttons etc are white not silver.

I am considering this as a backup too...The one I bought for my neices got RRoD and I have to send it back... waiting for the coffin. If I buy it I would let them use it until theirs comes back.

i have the core version as well as the premium(my sister has the core at the moment...BUT ITS STILL MINE!!)


another thing that you get with the core is that you get a wired controller not a wireless(unless they have changed all that mow)...but other than that,and the little things the others have mentioned.....its the same machine

The wireless controller I got with my Arcade system was faulty. The mic port was always on even if I was switched to mute. Depending on the game you'd hear constant static or me talking. Unfortunately Texas Hold 'Em was one of the games you could here me talk. It didn't take long to figure out why I couldn't bluff anyone.

I'm the proud (hopefull) owner of black elite. Looked through the system and looks like and old style. Built-Aug. 5, lot 0731 Can see the copper line. Oh well, at least my credit card gives me another year tacked onto the original warranty.

Does anyone know of small usb fan that I can pump thorough the side of the box?

Nice nat what games did you pick up? I got this fan thing that plugs in through the USB port and goes on the bottom if the xbox is up on its side. It also has two slots you can put on the side to store your controllers when you're not using them. Its pretty nifty

I did buy yhr arcade as a back up. It also comes with a dvd with 5 full versions of arcade games. I already have them or don't want them so I didn't even put it in.

Small USB fan? Screw that. I'm not taking any chances with this one.

I have a large whole room house fan forcing cold air into the box. I also have a remote temp sensor positioned at the exaust on the rear. Without the fan on, temp reaches 107 in about 10 minutes. With the fan it stays at 76.

I've been thinking about getting one of those snap on fans for the rear, but then what the hell, why mess with a good thing?

i got the same fan pogue has and it works just fine and only cost 15 bucks.

COD4 and RB6V along with the 2 games the machine came with. Star Wars Lego's will show up for me and the Kids.
