As most of you know, I recently got my 360 back from MS. Since then, I've been having problems with RainbowSix:Vegas, specifically the Black and Red expansion packs.
Whenever I try to join a game using the new maps, it says I need to dl them. I have to exit the game, go to marketplace, and click 'Download Again'. Then I can go back to the game and it works.
I've tried the 'Download Again' thing before I start a game, but it still does it.
I've tried deleting both packs and completely dl'ing again, but it doesn't work.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

At work we had 2 units that when they came back from service did that. They wouldn't accept the dlc until you reinstalled it every time you wanted to play the game. They sent them back and both work as they should. I don't know if there is a quick fix at home (instead of sending the damn thing in again and waiting a couple more weeks), but I'll look around and let you know if I find anything.

Okay, asked some guys I know who have had this problem and here is the "simple" work around. First let me tell you what the problem is. The way the 360 marks ownership of stuff you buy is through the Gamertag and the console it is registered on. When you send your console for repair, they usually send you a replacement; meaning it isn't the exact console that you sent to be fixed. What happens is that, even if you kept the hard drive, the items you bought before on the console you sent to get repaired are still associated to that console. Meaning that the dlc you bought is still registered to that console you sent for repair. When you try to access that dlc you bought on the faulty console now on the refurbished one, you can only access it when you are "online" and connected via the game. The problem is that Microsoft doesn't transfer content ownership when they replace your console.
Here is the "fix" if you want to call it that. You have to repurchase the items with someone else's account on your refurbished console. Yeah, I know, it sucks. But supposedly some people have been able to get Microsoft to credit them the points, meaning you don't spend anything. Here is a link a buddy directed me to and it might help you out http://www.busygamernews.com/2006/12/rant_..._time_bomb.html
I know there is a homebrew way of fixing this, but it might ban you from Live later on, so I won't even bother going into detail on that. Hehe, don't want you getting banned until 12/31/9999 like they did with those kids that played Halo 3 early.

What's funny is that I din't have this problem when I replaced mine. Here is what I see as the difference. I got a whole new console...Hard drive included. So I downloaded everything all over again. I think with rb6:vegas if you delete the content and then download it you won't have a problem. Probably because since it is free, it just registers it to the new console.

Tier, that f'ing sucks man, I'm glad those maps are free now.
Barb, I tried deleting the dlc, and re-downloading. It didnt work. I'll try deleting ALL r6v content (save games and everything) and see if that works.
I refuse to send my box back to MS for repair, especially for something like this. If they can't get it to work, someone is going to owe me a refund.

I agree with the refund part Homebuilt, Microsoft should fix your console and not give you more problems when supposedly it's fixed. Here's the thing I don't get. At work we've sent back a lot of 360's to be repaired, but only 2 had those issues. I don't know if it's someone that is lazy to make the refurbished console the one with dlc ownership or what. Hopefully you get it working without spending a cent.
